How do I scan a wine?

Tap the Scan tab at the bottom of the app, then either take a photo of the bottle's front label with your camera or pick an existing photo from your library. Within a few seconds Vinea will return tasting notes, food pairings, terroir context and a rating.

Why does the app need camera and photo access?

Camera access is used only when you actively choose to take a new photo of a bottle. Photo library access is used only when you actively choose to upload an existing photo. We never access your camera or library in the background.

Where are my scanned wines saved?

Your cellar is stored on Vinea's servers under your account, so your scans sync across devices automatically. To delete your cellar data, go to Account → Delete account inside the app. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, cellar, and activity history from our servers.

A wine in my cellar shows a wine glass icon instead of the bottle photo. Why?

iOS occasionally clears the camera's temporary cache to free up space, which can remove the original photo before the app finishes saving its own copy. Newer scans are saved permanently; older scans from before this fix may show the placeholder icon. The wine information itself is not affected.

The AI got something wrong about my wine.

Vinea's analysis is generated by AI based on the label image. It's typically accurate for well-known wines but can occasionally make mistakes, especially for rare or obscure labels, badly lit photos, or back labels. We always recommend confirming critical details (like alcohol content or appellation rules) with the producer or a sommelier.

Is Vinea free?

Vinea is free to download. The free tier includes a daily scan allowance and is supported by a banner ad. Optional auto-renewing subscriptions — Vinea Premium and Vinea Pro — unlock a larger monthly scan allowance, advanced sommelier features, and an ad-free experience. Subscriptions are managed through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). See our Terms of Use for full details.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed and managed by Apple or Google — not by Vinea directly. To cancel or change your plan:
iOS: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Vinea
Android: Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Vinea

Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription — you must cancel through the App Store or Google Play.

How do I delete my data?

Go to Account → Delete account inside the app. This permanently removes your profile, cellar, journal entries, follows, and session records from our servers. You have a short grace period — signing back in within 30 days will restore your account. After that, deletion is irreversible.

How old do I need to be?

Vinea is for adults of legal drinking age in your country (18+ or 21+ depending on your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly serve users below the legal drinking age.
